First half of the 18th century
Church of St. Peter, Munich, Germany
Unusually, the sculpture places the angel on the right and Mary on the left. Mary is greeted while studying scripture, as in many Annunciations of this period. The stalk of lilies in the angel's left hand replaces the vase of lilies that is common in paintings of this subject.
