Mary (in blue) follows behind the soldier with the club, who appears to be pressing Simon of Cyrene into service (Matthew 27:32, Luke 23:26).

In the upper area we see Judas hanging from a tree (Matthew 27:3-10). Two of the soldiers gesture toward him. Below, we see Veronica holding up her veil with Jesus' image on it. Below that, a woman blacksmith prepares blades for the soldier on the left to attach to spears.
