Nativity

Oil on wood
Musei Capitolini, Rome

As in the vision of St. Bridget of Sweden, the child lies naked and is worshiped by Joseph and Mary. The man on the right could be a donor. It seems unlikely that he would be one of the shepherds, because there are no sheep or other shepherds in evidence, nor any announcing angels. In fact it is the Magi who are approaching, riding their camels in the upper right.
