Antonio and Bartolomeo Vivarini
St. Anthony Abbot Altarpiece: Detail, St. Sebastian

1464
Tempera and gold on wood panel
Pinacoteca Vaticana, Rome

This is a rare case where the saint is fully dressed. He is identified by the arrow. The sword refers to his occupation as a soldier before he was arrested for giving encouragement to Christian martyrs.
