St. Bernardino
Tempera and gold on panel
Museum of the Basilica of St. Francis, Assisi
Wearing his Franciscan habit, the saint up holds his attribute, the panel with the "IHS" representing Jesus' name. In view of the seraphs lifting his body and the rose window (?) beneath his feet, this seems to be an image of his ascent to Heaven.
