The Harts Apse at the Galla Placidia Mausoleum: Detail, the vault

It is not clear who the two figures flanking the tondo are. Peter and Paul are already portrayed in the lower part of the apse. In the tondo is a chi-rho symbol (uniting the first two letters of the Greek for "Christ") with the alpha and omega of Revelation 1:8, 21:6, and 22:13 ("I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end").
