Juan Martínez Montañes (sculptor) and Francisco Pacheco (polychromy), St. Joachim

Seville Cathedral

The staff and characteristically bifurcated beard are common in portraits of St. Joachim, although the beard is more often white. The lamb also appears sometimes, in reference to the time he spent in the mountains with his flocks.
