Church of St. Peter Martyr

The Latin inscription means "In God's temple he shone like the refulgent sun" (Ecclesiasticus 50:7). The image echoes that sentiment by having rays from a sun on the saint's mantle clasp shine in through the door of this particular church.

This is part of a decorative strip of several frescos below the clerestory in the church, all celebrating Dominican notables. They are in excellent condition because they were covered over for centuries and only rediscovered in the 1920s.
