Madonna and Child

Tempera on panel
The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles

As usual for two-dimensional Madonna and Child images, the mother is pictured half-height and holds the baby in her arms. In the 15th century the child is typically naked. Paintings of the period will occasionally show him grasping Mary's veil.
