Angels

Angels:
The hands are positioned as if they once held musical instruments. They are suspended from the ceiling on either side of the archway that separates the apse from the nave. The feet of the angel on the right are unusually stocky.

Site: Church of Santa Elena de la Cruz, Xoxocotlán.

Location: East end of the nave (see note).

Media and construction: Wood, gesso, paint.

Size: About 4 feet (120 cm.)
