Ecce Homo

Piazza Armerina Diocesan Museum

A standing statue of Jesus after he was scourged and tormented by the Roman soldiers. The position of the hands suggests that they were once tied with a cord that has now been lost. Judging from the blood on the brow, it is possible that a crown of thorns was also part of the original work.
