Lamentation over the Dead Christ

This Lamentation is unusual in that the Virgin Mary is not shown. The young woman at right is St. Mary Magdalene. She seems to be anointing Jesus's body with ointment from the jar being held by the man behind her. He and the man behind Jesus are probably Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus.
