Noah Leads the Animals from the Ark

12th-13th century
Mosaic
Cathedral of the Assumption, Monreale, Sicily

Genesis 8:15-19. The inscription says it all: cessato diluvio noe extrahi fecit bestias ab arca, "The flood having ceased, Noah had the animals removed from the ark."

Inside the ark we see the wives of Noah and his sons.
