Tobias prepares to rub his blind father's eyes with the gall from the fish that Raphael holds on a plate. The pilgrim's staff resting on Raphael's neck is one of his attributes in western images. The dog that has accompanied Raphael and Tobias on their long journey appears in the lower right corner.
