Moses and the Brass Serpent
20th century?

It is rare to find a window in modern style picturing the events related in Numbers 21:4-9. Because of their constant complaining the Israelites are afflicted by saraph serpents, whose bite is mortal. Moses begs God for relief, so he tells him to erect a pole with a brass serpent at the top. Those who looked on the serpent were cured. In John 3:14-15 Jesus interprets the serpent on the pole as a symbol of himself on the Cross.
In the left panel the saraph serpents attack one person while the others look to the right to beg for mercy. In the right panel, Moses has raised the pole and a serpent appears to be leaving the man in blue at the bottom. As usual, Moses is identified by the horn-like rays emanating from his head.
