St. Philip Neri

Façade of the Church of La Maddalena, Rome

In the statue St. Philip Neri wears the broad, pointed collar that was part of the habit of the Congregation of the Oratory, which he founded. On the façade of the Maddalena, the statue is paired with that of St. Camillus de Lellis. Philip was the confessor and spiritual adviser of Camillus, who lived in the monastery adjacent to the church.
