St. Hedwig, Queen of Poland

17th century santo
Assumption Church, Tule, Oaxaca, Mexico

There are two saints named Hedwig: this one was Queen of Poland, a queen regnant in her own right; the other, Hedwig of Andechs, was a duchess and is somewhat more widely known. Hedwig of Poland is not even covered in the 62 volumes of the Acta Sanctorum, nor is she in the Roman Martyrology. Her most notable accomplishment was helping with the christianization of Lithuania.
