The Crucifixion with St. Peter Martyr
1440s
Fresco
Convent of San Marco, Florence, Italy
St. Peter Martyr is identified by the gash in his skull and his Dominican habit. The woman on the left is most likely the Virgin Mary; she has the same flowing garment in a light purple as in the nearby fresco of
the entombment of Christ.
