Facsimile of a Dome Painting in the Bagawat Necropolis, Egypt: Detail, Rebekah

This section of the painting represents Genesis 24:1-20. Abraham's servant, dispatched with instructions to find a suitable bride for Isaac, encounters Rebekah at the well outside Nahor. In the painting we see the well, the two characters, the pitcher that Rebekah gives the servant, and the camels that she also waters. The scene is labeled above by the Greek word PENBEKA, "Rebekah."
