The Sarcophagus of Agape: Detail, The Fiery Furnace

See Daniel 3. Though large, this is a simple composition, without the angel or any Chaldean onlookers. The young men's short tunics, boots, and capes suggest their status as members of King Nebuchadnezzar's court. The hand gestures probably refer to their recital of the great prayer in Vulgate Daniel 3:26-90.
