Antoni Gaudí, The Nativity Portal at the Sagrada Família: Detail The Adoration of the Magi

For some reason this sculpture of the three Magi does not make them representative of neither the ages of man (as in the earlier Middle Ages) nor the various races (as in the late Middle Ages and Renaissance). They are simply three men in late middle age bringing their gifts. The mage on the right has small chest, suggesting gold. The gift of the middle mage comes in a censer, so frankincense. And on the left the ointment jar should be for myrrh.
