In Luke 1:39-56 the pregnant Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth, who recognizes her as "the mother of my Lord." In the response pictured here, Mary breaks out into a prayer known as the Magnificat (1:46-55, "My soul doth magnify the Lord.…").
